Acid Mine Drainage (AMD)

Waste waters with content of dissolved metals originated by percolation of atmospheric precipitation through overburden or flotation tailing contained sulphide mineralization and pyrite. Dissolved metals are product of a chemical reaction between water and sulphides, especially pyrite, after which is produced acidic waters which dissolve present metals.
