Expected results	Rationale

The acknowledgement of the project within institutions and human communities from the cross-border area.	The periodical information and publicity of the project through promotional materials and its web site will conduct to the acknowledgement of the project and contribute to its further implementation and sustainability.

The advanced research network entity in the field of environmental protection as a result of the project implementation.	The advanced joint research network contributes to the sustainable socio-economical development of the Romanian-Serbian border area in the field of environmental protection.

The identification of the pollutants (organic and inorganic) from the analyzed water samples and of the degree in which the ecosystems are affected by pollution. Building a database with regard to pollution degree of the analyzed water streams and of the degree in which the ecosystems are affected by pollution.	The water sampling made every three months in the first year of the project from Bor River (Borsky County) and Nera River (Caras-Severin County) and their chemical analyzes will establish the degree of pollution with organic and inorganic (heavy metals) pollutants. The ecological and eco-toxicological studies establish the pollution impact on the flora and fauna of the analyzed areas. The database will be useful for the evaluation of the pollution degree of the watercourse in which the wastewater from the mining exploitation of Borski region is discharged.

The mesoporous multifunctional oxidic materials and advanced polymeric materials with pre established structure and proprieties synthesized and characterized.	These materials can be used to retain the pollutants present in wastewater.

The proposal of a treatment method of the wastewater (polluted with heavy metals) based on the synthesized materials.	This method contributes to lower the pollution effect of the wastewater from the mining processes.

The publishing of 2 ISI papers and the organization of an international scientific conference in the field of environmental protection.	The publishing activities and the participation at public events will increase the international visibility of the research network created and its results in the field of environmental protection.
